Here in Foxborough we not only have support from our community, administrators, and art alumni, but we also have a dedicated staff of artists who are teachers. Vertical alignment is so important to our mission and for that reason we have monthly meetings as well as PD workshops where K-12 Art teachers come together to discuss student learning. Collectively we’ve made it a goal to place more focus on The Studio Habits of Mind. You will find posters with the 8 Habits hung in art rooms at all 5 schools. #MAEAIGTakeOver
Each year the Foxborough Street Painting Festive is organized by 2-4 Senior Project students. Much like an internship, these grade 12 students use their final semester at FHS to work on marketing and organizing the event. For the day of we have volunteer NAHS members to help with registration and the awards ceremony. We could not do the event without the support of our students ❤️ @foxboroartfest@foxboronahs#MAEAIGTakeOver#WhereArtLivesOutLoud#creativityiscontagious
This past Saturday we celebrated our 5th Annual Foxborough Street Painting Festival where community artists come together to create sidewalk chalk drawings. In the last 4 years we’ve welcomed over 293 artists from over 34 towns. With the support of the community, our friends at Patriot Place, and our friends at Foxboro Dental we’ve been able to raise over $5,000 in scholarships for FHS artists❤️ #MAEAIGTakeOver@foxboroartfest
It’s #MAEAIGTakeOverDay!🎉 We are so very excited to share our Art Department with the amazing community of Art Teachers and student artists across Massachusetts! We’re also excited to celebrate our seniors here in Foxborough on their last full day of classes. It is always a bittersweet day loosing members of our art family❤️ but we know they have great things yet to come!
Our next MAEA takeover is the Visual Arts Department of Foxborough Public Schools. They are a collaboration of seven artists/educators who are all dedicated to nurturing critical thinking and visual literacy in their studio classrooms. Foxborough’s K-12 Art Curriculum is designed to foster independence through differentiated and self-directed lessons. Teachers work with students to develop a lifelong aptitude and desire to learn, explore, create and invent. The arts program is committed to the process of creating over products they yield. They encourage students to experiment, persevere and arrive at their own unique solution while promoting skill building, discovery, and innovation.
